About Capt. Jim

After being born in Biloxi, Mississippi while his parents were visiting their relatives who were deep-rooted in the gambling and commercial fishing industries, Jim has always been drawn to the sea. His father who was a colonel in the Air Force and an avid sportsmen who fueled Jim’s thirst for the outdoors.

After attending college at Texas Technological College majoring in wildlife conservation, Jim moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and ran a very successful fly shop and outfitting business for 27 years, always sneaking away on several salt water fly fishing trips a year. Jim sold Buggywhips Fish & Float Service in the spring of 2000 and finally got the chance to chase salt water fish full time.

Guiding the Lower Laguna Madre and the Lower Florida Keys keeps Jim busy until  he is off on his next grand adventure. Late summer/early fall trout fishing in Colorado and Utah is also available.
