If you are looking for endless miles of crystal clear flats teeming with Gulf Coast game fish, give Capt. Jim Blackburn a call and head for the Lower Laguna Madre on the most Southern Texas Coast. Fish from a state-of-the-art 18’ Hell’s Bay Boatworks Guide Edition skiff or a 15’ Baymaster Scooter. In the bay expect to encounter redfish, trout, black drum, ladyfish & sheepshead. In the two passes leading to the gulf, deep channels, and near shore you can chase tarpon, snook, jacks, king & Spanish mackerel, mangrove snapper, bonita, & sharks. Fly or spinning techniques are both effective.
LOWER FLORIDA KEYS FISHING
The Florida Keys are world renowned for the unlimited shallow water game fish available. Based out of Big Pine Key, tarpon, permit, and bonefish will be the primary targets, with a large selection of alternative species available such as sharks, barracuda, jacks, ladyfish, redfish, and mangrove snapper just to name a few. If the flats become blown out, you can still salvage the day doing some fly fishing with poppers for largemouth bass, peacock bass, bluegills, oscars, and other cichlids on the Southern tip of Florida bordering the Everglades. Low on stress and high on fun!! Fly or spinning techniques are both effective.
